Unique art space in South-Estonia
Lauda Gallery is a unique gallery space located in South-Estonia, near Otepää and it was founded in 2022 by the artist Mia Melanie Saar and the owner of the farmstead, Mia’s father Erki Saar. The barn building where the gallery was later founded was built over a hundred years ago and for the last 18 years it’s been a home to Erki Saar’s farm restaurant. Sadly most of the restaurant was destroyed in a devastating fire in 2019.
But every end is a beginning to something new and exciting and when the barn was renovated for the restaurant they also decided to convert the storage room next door into a gallery for exhibiting Erki’s art collection and Mia’s paintings.
It is a very home-like cozy space that exhibits works of different Estonian painters, graphic artists and Mia Melanie Saar’s colorful and naive artworks.
Lauda Gallery is tying together archaic farm architecture and modern Estonian art, creating something truly unique – a touchpoint of different worlds.
Uus algus 2.0
In August 2025 a newly established part of the gallery was opened. The new space is fully dedicated to exhibiting works of young Estonian artists and curated by Mia Melanie Saar. It’s her mission and a wish to help young artists reach a wider audience so she extended this one of a kind platform.
The opening event took place on 23 of August and the first exhibition in the new space was called “Dolce far niente” (sweetness of doing nothing), featuring works of 13 young Estonian artists and photographers.
Artists participating: Luisa Greta Vilo, Motoerotica, Ann-Liis Kitt, Margret Paide, Mari Ann Rebane, Joosep Saul, Teodor Ruus, neiumaarja, Ingmar Roomets, Teele Ülesoo, Helena Tääker, Kristi Vendelin, Delfi Oraakel.
The exhibition is curated by Mia Melanie Saar and it is open until December.
